Periodontology
Periodontology – A branch of dentistry that focuses on the treatment of periodontal diseases (gums, bone, and fibers that hold the tooth root in the bone). It is often genetically predisposed. Gingivitis (inflammation of the gums), if not addressed, can eventually lead to periodontitis (a chronic periodontal disease that can progress to tooth loss).
It is essential to carry out periodontal therapy as soon as possible. This therapy includes detailed cleaning of tartar and polishing, scaling of tooth roots (curettage), as well as regular check-ups and maintenance (recall). The maintenance of the patient’s oral hygiene has a significant impact on the progression of the disease.
Periodontal therapy represents a long-term collaboration between the doctor and the patient.
Before starting therapy, we need an orthopantomogram (X-ray image of the entire jaw) and a clinical examination in which we explain the procedure and therapy plan to the patient.
Curettage is performed meticulously, under local anesthesia, quadrant by quadrant.
By agreement with us, the patient is scheduled for regular check-ups.
Through instructions and advice on oral hygiene, we strive to motivate periodontal patients to maintain healthy gums and bone to the maximum extent.
