Orthodontics
Orthodontics – An increasingly popular branch of dentistry. "Straight, beautiful teeth" and proper occlusion are not just matters of aesthetics but also of jaw joint health and the ability to maintain good oral hygiene (crowded teeth are more prone to contact caries). The first examination is recommended during preschool age. At this stage, minor irregularities can be corrected, and future issues can be anticipated.
There are removable and fixed orthodontic appliances, as well as clear aligners. Depending on the patient's age and the complexity of the situation in the mouth, we determine with the patient which appliance is most suitable.
Modern dentistry utilizes fixed orthodontic appliances to correct occlusion in adult patients who have lost some teeth and experienced shifting. Previously, such teeth would often be targeted for grinding and shortening to accommodate an implant or bridge. However, we now offer a more modern, quality solution that preserves the adjacent teeth – a fixed appliance that creates space for the missing tooth, which can later be restored.
Fixed orthodontic appliances come in the form of metal brackets and white (aesthetic) brackets. The patient decides which type of brackets they prefer.
The first orthodontic examination includes a discussion with the patient, during which the patient expresses their wishes and goals.
If therapy is initiated, impressions and occlusion are taken, and the patient’s teeth and oral situation are photographed.
A crucial step before applying the appliance is the treatment of any caries in the mouth, as well as cleaning tartar and sandblasting. All teeth must be treated (healed), and the gums must be healthy before the appliance is placed. The patient also receives instructions on maintaining oral hygiene adapted for fixed appliances, which is important to adhere to throughout the therapy.
After the appliance is affixed, the patient is scheduled for regular check-ups and receives our full support throughout the treatment process.
The duration of therapy is individualized.
