Prosthodontics is a branch of dentistry that deals with dental restorations, as well as the correction of occlusion and dental aesthetics.

A ceramic veneer is used to correct the aesthetics of anterior teeth, whereby only the front surface of the tooth is prepared.

A ceramic crown is a fixed restoration that covers the entire tooth. This is an ideal solution for teeth with large caries that cannot be adequately restored with a filling, as well as for teeth that have undergone endodontic treatment ("the nerve has been removed") since these teeth tend to change colour over time and are more fragile and prone to fractures. The crown protects them and makes them stronger. Additionally, crowns are also used for aesthetic purposes to enhance the appearance of the teeth.

The types of crowns include:

  1. Zirconia ceramic crowns – offer the perfect balance of strength and aesthetics; the crown looks completely natural. Zirconia serves as a white base (strength) onto which ceramic (aesthetics) is baked.
  2. Full zirconia crowns used in situations where zirconia ceramic cannot be placed due to occlusion issues.
  3. Metal-ceramic crowns – equally strong and high-quality as the previous two, but do not provide 100% natural aesthetics. The reason for this is logical: metal serves as a gray base onto which ceramic is baked.
  4. Full ceramic crowns – purely aesthetic, with slightly lower strength. They are used on anterior teeth and require proper occlusion.

A ceramic bridge
is a fixed restoration used to replace a lost tooth with supporting teeth that carry the structure. It is an excellent solution when implants are not feasible. It is crucial to replace the area of the lost tooth as soon as possible after tooth loss to maintain the same occlusion, prevent adjacent teeth from tilting into the empty space (which alters the bite), and to avoid additional bone loss at the site of the extracted tooth. The materials used for making bridges are the same as for crowns.

A partial denture is a removable restoration that the patient can take out of their mouth. It is used in cases of partial tooth loss when the situation is not favourable for bridging or implants.

A stronger and higher-quality partial denture has a metal framework (wironit), which can also be better secured with anchors than with conventional clasps.

A complete denture is a removable restoration that the patient can take out of their mouth. It is used in cases of complete tooth loss in the jaw when the situation is not favourable for implant placement.

Every prosthetic therapy requires a clinical examination, an assessment of dental X-rays, and a treatment plan that we recommend. We present the treatment plan to the patient, and in consultation with them, we decide on the course of action. We always consider the patient's wishes and possibilities and adjust the therapy accordingly, ensuring it is correct and of high quality for the patient.

The creation of a prosthetic restoration occurs in multiple phases of work in collaboration with a dental technician. On average, the creation of a single restoration takes approximately 14 days from the start of the prosthetic phase.
